If you stuck it out for two hours of ABC’s Bachelor Pad, chances are you hung around for at least 30 seconds of the season premiere of Dating in the Dark. You remember this show, right? New cast each episode; three guys and three girls feel around in the darkness and occasionally converse to see if they like each other’s “personalities”? No? That’s probably for the best. This show is a total crapfest that I’m thinking can best be recapped via pictures. Ironic, don’t you think? Because they’re in the dark.
Natasha wins this week’s prestigious Best Euphemism for ‘Unemployed’ award.
Joey, 31, is the villain of the episode. He’s just sitting there and you already hate him, especially his most prized possession: his hair. Joey thinks his hair looks awesome.
Kym, 27, should consider washing her hair. Warning, guys: Kym only likes men with perfect teeth! And yet these are her teeth.
By the way, the interior decoration of this house is insane. Here’s host Rossi Morreale explaining this “most unusual dating experiment.” Marvel at the strange orange pineapple/container behind him. A true hidden gem!

Seriously what is going on with the decor? You know we can see this, right, ABC? Not every scene occurs in the dark. Show some respect.
Finally! They’re dating in the dark. The introductions are as awkward as they seem.
Ewwwwwwwwwwww. Joey: “I did the Ray Charles wrist check so I could see if they were thin or they were heavy. I felt Natasha’s wrist and felt it was plump, and I was just kind of turned off, for me.”
The anti-plump crusade continues as Joey checks Natasha’s waist for extra, or rather any body fat during the first few seconds of their one-on-one date.
And she’s delighted! “I don’t think Joey’s a bad guy,” says Natasha the fatty. “I think it shows that he’s a bit more clueless than rude, and I just think that’s endearing.”
Joey demonstrates the dimensions of Natasha’s grotesque “inner tube” of flesh for the other two guys. Tragically for viewers, he is not about to drown.
To add insult to injury, Natasha’s best friend, Tatiana, reveals in a video diary that Natasha is a vegetarian for ethical reasons! “No wayyyyy. No, no, no.” Joey is devastated. A “fat” vegetarian, huh? I mean what are the chances?
Natasha’s one-on-one date with Dave, the 26-year-old PR guy, went a bit better. Here she is overdoing it after Dave unleashed his secret weapon — his sense of humor — by making a hilarious joke. Natasha said she used to be “on keys” in her school band, and Dave shot back, “Which means ‘keyboard,’ right? YOU DIDN’T JUST JINGLE KEYS?”
No, silly! I didn’t just jingle keys! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I’m about to fall over!
Meanwhile, tall Kym makes the best zombie of the group. “Oh God,” she mutters in disgust upon realizing Joey is five inches shorter than her.
Natasha overacts AGAIN upon hearing Rossi’s big news that they would now get to view the results of the compatibility tests. “Perfect!” she squeals. But it’s not.
Kym delivers the most sensible line of the night: “Look how stupid our names look together.”
Storm is zombie Kym’s knight in shiny gold hoop earring armor at the start of their compatibility date. Uh oh. Are man-jewels a deal breaker, ladies?
…you deceptive, nice-personality-having jackass.
Yeah, Joey! Gotta booze it up for your compatibility date with a giant flotation device, bro.
Joey and Natasha’s compatibility date is just more of the same. This time he feels her entire midsection to make sure his snap judgment that she was huge had been correct. “Natasha, will you please stand up so I can get an idea of your full figure?”
And she’s okay with it! “I’ll be honest, I thought you were a little thicker than that,” Joey admits. But he’s still not sure and embarks on a thorough belly check. “You’re feeling my tummy?” she asks, bewildered. “Abso-LUTE-ly!” he announces, proud as can be. I’m amazed she’s still in the room.
After Joey describes his painful experience with an ex-girlfriend who “blew up like a tick” and assured Natasha that it was okay if she’d ever been heavy before as long as bulimia or the gym will keep her fit for the long run, it slowly begins to dawn on Natasha that Joey is a huge asshole.
There it is.
One of Natasha’s eyes takes a bit longer to catch up.
Jerk.
Yay! Kym decided to look past Storm’s earring (or in this case, screw her eyes shut) and meet him on the balcony of romantic success. They’re dating in the daylight!
But DRAMA! Natasha and Jessica both chose Dave, and he ended up requesting a daylight dating experience with Jessica. The two looked so much alike that I’m convinced there’s a 50 percent chance Dave meant to choose the other one. Here’s Jessica sticking it to that loser Natasha.

I almost prefer this Natasha reaction shot from earlier, right after Jessica emerged from her compatibility date with Dave to announce “I’m really interested in him.”

Let’s see. On the one hand, the scanners are a useful tool in detecting the sort of explosives smuggled onto Flight 253 by Abdulmutallab, and therefore a valuable weapon in the war on terror. Which of course is why Napolitano is expanding their use. On the other hand, airline passengers are understandably self-conscious about dangling their goods in front of the local TSA screener but perhaps willing to do so in the interest of not being blown up in mid-air. Our dilemma: What can we do to freak out the public to the point where they’ll demand that the scanners no longer be used, thereby imperiling everyone?
Good ol’ DHS. Always quick with a solution.
The U.S. Marshals Service admitted this week that it had surreptitiously saved tens of thousands of images recorded with a millimeter wave system at the security checkpoint of a single Florida courthouse.
This follows an earlier disclosure (PDF) by the TSA that it requires all airport body scanners it purchases to be able to store and transmit images for “testing, training, and evaluation purposes.” The agency says, however, that those capabilities are not normally activated when the devices are installed at airports…
William Bordley, an associate general counsel with the Marshals Service, acknowledged in the letter that “approximately 35,314 images…have been stored on the Brijot Gen2 machine” used in the Orlando, Fla. federal courthouse. In addition, Bordley wrote, a Millivision machine was tested in the Washington, D.C. federal courthouse but it was sent back to the manufacturer, which now apparently possesses the image database…
A 70-page document (PDF) showing the TSA’s procurement specifications, classified as “sensitive security information,” says that in some modes the scanner must “allow exporting of image data in real time” and provide a mechanism for “high-speed transfer of image data” over the network. (It also says that image filters will “protect the identity, modesty, and privacy of the passenger.”)
The only reason I can think of to save the images is to preserve evidence in case the TSA screener on duty … utterly fails to detect the hidden explosives in the image and the suspect somehow makes it onto the plane. Is that what this is about — making sure prosecutors have something to show the jury in case some jihadi actually makes it past the checkpoint and is subdued during the flight? Obviously you don’t need the image if you nab the guy during the pre-flight screening since you’ll recover the actual explosives themselves. What the sam hill is going on here?
Update: Speak of the devil…
Update: To clarify, obviously you don’t need the images if the guy’s subdued during the flight either. But having them would prove whether he brought the explosives onboard himself versus whether they were planted there by some other party. Is that what this is about? It can’t be.
Before heading off to jail Lindsay Lohan seemed to have booked a number of racy photo shoots, a reminder that while she’s gone, doing time in jail and rehab, she shouldn’t be forgotten. But at least one series of photos was faked.
The “Mean Girls” actress appears in a new campaign for fashion house Marc Ecko. It’s called the Muse campaign, but the photos are actually of another model — at least the body is.
Namesake designer Marc Ecko acknowledged that he had graphic artists superimpose Lohan’s face on another model’s body for the advertisement.
In other photos, the model’s face is covered by a mask, but the implication is clearly that it’s Lohan.
Ecko claims Lindsay’s role was to act as inspiration, or a muse — not to actually pose.
“A muse has the ability to inspire the artist to create in ways they wouldn’t otherwise contemplate,” he told London’s Daily Mail.
Lohan was released from jail this week after serving 13 days of a 90-day sentence and was immediately transferred to a a rehab clinic for another 90 day stay.
Lohan also appears in the latest issue of Maxim magazine and in a new series of photos released by photographer Tyler Shields as part of her role in the movie “Inferno.”

LG has announced the R590 3D Notebook that comes with a pair of 3D Glasses. The Notebook is basically the 3D version to the original R590, it comes with the TriDef software that converts 2D content to 3D. The LG R590 3D Notebook is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor with HM55 chipset, NVIDIA GeForce GT335M graphics card, an optional Blu-ray drive and a 15.6-inch 3D display.
LG has come out with its first 3D notebook called LG R590 that packs in all the benefits of 3D in a portable form. The LG R590 3D comes with a 15.6-inch display and is powered by an Intel Core i7 Processor with HM55 chipset and NVIDIA GeForce GT335M graphics card. Plus, it also has 1GB of dedicated DDR3 video memory. Pretty cool! This new 3D notebook from LG has SRS Tru Surround HD that will give the audience a great audio and visual experience.
Plus it also keeps in mind the increasing use of Blu-ray. So it also comes with a Blu-ray drive that enables us to view HD movies in 2D and 3D as well. The notebook has a TriDef software that can convert a 2D video to 3D in real time. Now I am not really sure, but I think this is the first of its kind. So that makes this notebook even more special.
This device is also gentle on the yes as its polarized glasses reduce eye fatigue while watching 3D videos. There is no internal circuitry or batteries, and the glass is lightweight. This means that this slim notebook can be carried around very easily. LG will be launching this 3D notebook this month and will introduce globally soon after that.

The interchangeable lens consumer-oriented HD camcorder Sony teased us with when it announced its NEX interchangeable lens digital cameras has now been unveiled. As previously revealed, the Handycam NEX-VG10 features the same Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor found in the NEX-5 and NEX-3 and will be able to share E-mount interchangeable lenses with those devices. Calling the NEX-VG10 the world’s first consumer HD camcorder with an interchangeable lens system, Sony says it enables users to capture images and videos with background defocus effects and shallow depth of field.
Interchangeability widens possibilities
The NEX-VG10 shoots Blu-ray quality 1920×1080 video at 24 megabits per second in AVCHD format and 14.2 megapixel stills with its DSLR-sized image sensor providing shallower depth of field to produce shots that help separate the subject from the background. Giving users the option of using a wide variety of lenses including fisheye, telephoto and wide-angled, the camera also seeks to unleash that inner De Milne. The camcorder comes bundled with an E-mount 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS zoom lens, while additional E-mount lenses as well as an A-mount adapter that will allow the use of lenses used with Sony’s Alpha DSLR cameras will also be available at launch.
Additional features include optical image stabilization with Active Mode, silent auto focus and iris control, twin accessory shoes as well as offering more advanced videographers and photographers the option to manually tweak settings such as aperture and shutter speed. The camera doesn’t have any internal storage so images are stored to Memory Stick and SD (SDHC/SDXC) cards. A 3-inch swivel Xtra Fine LCD screen that features TruBlack technology and a pivoting electronic viewfinder should makes it possible to keep an eye on your framing at both high and low angles.
Audio
On the audio front the NEX-VG10’s Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone combines signals from four separate omnidirectional capsules, which Sony says delivers clear stereo audio with a highly directional response. There is also a jack for adding an optional external mic, plus a 3.5mm input and 3.5mm headphone jack for audio monitoring.
The NEX-VG10 comes equipped with an NP-FV70 battery that is good for around 155 minutes of continuous recording, while an optional NP-FV100 battery can record more than five hours of continuous video.
The announcement of the NEX-VG10 coincides with the 25th anniversary for Sony’s Handycam line this month. When it lands this September for around US$2,000 it looks like a present well worth waiting for.

NEC has announced what they claim is the world’s first commercial hard drive-less laptop, the 12.1-inch (1024 x 768), 1.73 GHz “PC Parafield.” Targeted almost exclusively at corporate customers, the Parafield aims to combine the security of network-dependant thin-client systems with the flexibility of regular notebooks by including 3GB of flash ROM for Windows XP Pro and application storage along with 512MB of RAM. Few things to try
Try entering safemode – usually tapping the f5 key when starting up – then select safemode –
if this works and you get a display – go into the device manager (press the windows icon button plus the pause break key – then select hardware > device manager)
click on the plus next to the display adaptors – highlight your display adaptor then right click on it and uninstall)
restart your conputer and see if this helps
if you enter safemode and the display switches off – try entering the bios – when you get the splash screen it should tell you which key to press (enter setup)
does your screen go blank in this – if so you have a hardware problem -
if you can check your setting within the bios – load the optimised defaults or defaults and try again
give this a go and good luck
PS – also try a ATX reset -
remove your battery and the power cable from your laptop
press and hold the power button in for about 30 seconds – this will remove any static build up on the MOBO
Power back on and see if this works

have you tried to plug a monitor into the back of the laptop to make sure the back light hasn’t gone bad?

start the laptop without the battery. If this doesn’t work, i fear the internal power module is defective. This is mostly the reason if the monitor doesn’t switch on.

How old is the laptop? Based on my experience, notebooks/laptops start to have display problem as they ‘grow older’
Maybe the display cables are loosen or the LCD died. Try calling the BenQ support about this
